We plan out your drawdown strategy to ensure you're going to have a reliable income stream with a lifetime of tax-efficiency. We also consult on exactly when you should start your Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS), and how to manage the variability of income you'll need throughout retirement.

At the end of the day money is for spending.  You'll spend it, or someone else will, but through effective estate planning you can enjoy some control over what will happen with your resources when you're gone.

We get everything organized so when it's time to visit the lawyer all of your ducks are already in a row.  This can make the whole process much less stressful.  We can work with your existing lawyer, or we have several competent estate lawyers that we can refer you to by request.  

We enjoy helping clients strategically leave money to their favourite causes.

Many of us have an interest in charity, but fear that leaving a large sum to charity will negatively impact our kids.  There are a number of key strategies that can help you achieve your goals.

  • Donate securities with deferred capital gains in-kind, and donate the tax consequences away too.
  • Leave the charity as a beneficiary on an insurance policy, to protect your privacy.
  • Gift a life insurance policy now and continue to pay the premiums.
  • Use products with a named beneficiary to alleviate privacy concerns.
  • Use a trust to maintain control of how the money may be distributed after you're gone.

After completing my Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Toronto I knew I wanted to run a business of my own.  At the time I was running a wedding photography business, but I knew that industry wasn't the right choice for me in the long-term. Ultimately I decided to join my father in Financial Planning, earning my Certified Financial Planner® Professional and Registered Retirement Coordinator® designations, and purchased his business in 2019.  


I enjoy finding better ways to serve our clients.  I've embraced technology (something this industry is guilty of avoiding) in order to make my practice fully digitally enabled.  I like getting together with my clients as much as anyone, but I also realize the value and convenience of being able to host online meetings, bring on new clients with a digital process, and use web-based financial planning tools that allow more robust understanding of financial planning decisions with meaningful visualizations instead of endless numbers.  

Outside of work, I am married to Jennifer, have two young sons, Owen and Dax, and enjoy mountain and road cycling, keeping exotic discus fish, and vacationing (although COVID-19 has really put a damper on that).

If you had a million dollars to spend, what would be the first three things you would buy?
I would buy a vacation property, do some renovations to my home, and probably buy a boat since I live near Lake Ontario.

What’s the most likely place people could find you on a Saturday night?
With two active young sons, I'll be putting them to bed and finding a moment to relax and clear my head, likely with a glass of wine and my wife's company.

Which would you pick: Living on the beach or living near the mountains?
I'm an avid cyclist, both mountain biking and road biking (and winter riding), so mountains.

I’d wish for a rocket-fast metabolism, an amazing memory and perfect health.

If you had the ability to travel back in time, what’s something you would tell your 18-year-old self?
You're about to turn 19 and you serve tables in a restaurant, drink less than you want to and save the money instead.

I now enjoy a level of semi-retirement, having officially transferred client servicing responsibilities to Adrian in 2019.  I continue to be available to discuss advanced strategies with clients and to provide strategic direction and consulting for the practice.
